The Laboratory for Computer Science Research (LCSR) is currently looking for a Student Programmer. This position will be directed in the development, maintenance, testings, documentation and cleanup of web applications. This is a programming and development position. This work is for the benefit of the Department of Computer Science (DCS) and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS)
Starting: As Soon As Possible.
Hours: Available hours to work are: 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday. Individual shifts must be performed in at least 3 hour blocks of time. 12-20 hours of work per week are required during semesters. 30-40 hours of work per week are available during the winter and summer breaks.
Wage: Between $20-30/hr depending on skill set.

Daily Responsibilities:
- NOTE: This is NOT a data science position and NOT for research work (you will be working with LCSR staff, not professors). This is a software developer oriented position. Apply if you are interested in learning and/or applying software development in practice.
- Design, development, testing, maintenance and support of Web Applications
- Working with staff on these tasks
- Install, configure and modify Linux based software
- Feature and Bug Issue Tracking
- Participating in Code Reviews and other Meetings
- Debugging, enhancing, optimizing and refactoring pre-existing code
- Collaborating with other student programmers on the same or similar web applications
- Connect services via APIs and other interfaces
- User Interface and Experience Design
- Documentation

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to independently code and reason through code
- Web Application development, even if only in an academic setting
- Code version control (Git) and using a workflow
- Development in a Linux OS environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with any of: a backend framework, a frontend framework, or any combination
- Experience using relational databases
- Experiences with APIs, Message Passing, or Remote Communication
- Experience with Docker or similar containerization tools
Additional Possible Qualifications:
- Javascript, JQuery, HTML, CSS
- PHP, Ruby, Python, Java any other common languages
- Linux System Administration, Shell Scripting
- Experience with Apache, NGINX, Docker
- SQL database queries
- JSON, RESTful, yaml, ini, toml
Work preferred in office on Busch Campus, but may be performed remotely after some time. You must have the ability to do so by providing your own computing equipment and internet connection in order to connect to the on-site work resources. You must have the ability to video conference. You must have a distraction free physical environment to perform your work.
